Explaining Heroes
New Players Note
New Players begin with 3 Heroes - Captain America, Black Widow and Iron Man (in no particular order). While you may have other heroes that may be awarded from things/events such as Dimension Chests - it is recommended that you stick to these heroes for now. The reasons why will be explained further below.
Getting More Heroes
If you want more heroes - you will need to collect Biometrics of that respective Heroes, or be lucky and pick one up from a Dimensional Chest.
There are certain special Heroes that can only be obtained through Special means - these are:
- Angela, Malekith, Black Cat are all Dimensional Chest Exclusive
- Hulk is Chaos Token Exclusive
- Captain Marvel is Honour Token Exclusive
Each Hero requires a different/varying amounts of Biometrics to be unlocked and as such, they will be unlocked at different ranks. - with the formula: 10 Biometrics = 1 Rank.
Biometrics can be obtained from several means
- Elite Missions - Various Heroes Biometrics can be found through simply clearing Elite Missions, they do restrict you to 3 runs for a stage a day.
- Dimensional Shifts - Probably the most common method of getting Biometrics, you unlock Dimension Shifts or "DS" after completion of Chapter 2. After finding a Dimensional Shift, you can have 1 Hour of playing through various stages awarded Biometrics. You do NOT get any S.H.I.E.L.D Exp however.
- Dimensional Chests - The most inefficient way to get Biocodes, these chests could net you what you are after... or not... Unless you are aiming for the Exclusives, players are advised to spend their time and Crystals on more efficient means such as DS or Elite Story Mode.
Hero - Rank
Each Hero has a rank from 1 to 6 which is indicated by the "Stars" near the Character Name. The rank will determine the maximum level of the Hero as well as the Skill/Specials available to the Hero.
To rank up - the respective Hero's Biometrics must be collected and used.
- Rank 1 Heroes requires 20 Biometrics to move to Rank 2
- Rank 2 Heroes requires 40 Biometrics to move to Rank 3
- Rank 3 Heroes requires 60 Biometrics to move to Rank 4
- Rank 4 Heroes requires 80 Biometrics to move to Rank 5
- Rank 5 Heroes requires 100 Biometrics to move to Rank 6.
At each rank, certain features becomes unlocked to the hero. At Rank 6, you may use the hero to it's fullest potential.
- Rank 1 - Unlocks the Hero for Use, Has 2 Skills, Can be levelled to 25, Skills can be levelled to 10
- Rank 2 - Has 2 Skills, Can be levelled to 30, Skills can be levelled to 20
- Rank 3 - Has 3 Skills, Can be levelled to 35, Skills can be levelled to 30
- Rank 4 - Has 3 Skills, Can be levelled to 40, Skills can be levelled to 40
- Rank 5 - Has 3 Skill and unlocks Hero's Passive, Can be levelled to 45, Skills can be levelled to 50
- Rank 6 - Has all 4 Skill and Hero's Passive and can be levelled to 50, Skills can be levelled to 60
As such, "Ranking Up" Heroes becomes a very valuable tool to maximizing your Hero's strength and will becomes essential to progress through the Story and PvP.
However, doing so requires a vast amount of Biometrics and is why new players are recommended to use Iron Man, Captain America and Black Widow. The game will provide Biometric to help them rank up their heroes through the Quest System. This will enable them to progress through the story until they reach a point where they can "farm" biometrics.
Hero - Mastery
Mastery is the Red Star that symbolizes that you have boosted the unit further than the usual hero of the same rank. It gives a slight boost in stats and more importantly, it unlocks the "Leadership" Skill. The Leadership Skill is an ability that is granted to your whole team while the unit is your leader (The middle unit). A Strong Leadership Skill could create wins where you would've lost.
Mastering a Hero requires Norn Stones - there are different variations of Norn Stones depending on who you wish to master.
- Combat Units requires Norn Stone of Strength
- Speed Units requires Norn Stone of Brilliance
- Blast Units requires Norn Stone of Energy
- Universal Units requires Norn Stone of Omnipotence
While not as significant as Ranks, these mastery points may be what turns the tables in more tightly knit battles such as PvP.
Hero - Gear
The next thing to discuss is the Hero's Gears. These are the equipment and/or weapons that the Hero will use in battle. Upgrading Gears requires varying materials depending on the Hero and the Type. These will grant a massive boost in Power if attended to regularly.
To upgrade a Gear - pay attention to the materials required, the required Hero Level and the Upgrade Cost. At certain levels, the upgrade may add additional Skills to the Gear,
Whenever a gear is upgraded a number will be added on the Top-Left. This will indicate the amount of times the Gear has been upgraded. Each Gear may only be upgraded to +15.
Choosing the Right Hero
Ranking up, Mastering and in general upgrading a Hero takes an incredibly long time. As such it is important to choose the Hero that will contribute the most throughout your game-play. How do we determine this?
Strikers
Strikers are units that have a chance of appearing to assist your hero when they are attacked. The Strikers will generally appear - perform one of their Skills and disappear. To determine the hero that will best assist you on the long road - look for units with multiple or many Strikers. These Strikers will also normally formulate a nice team with those Heroes and can create a Team Combo.
Team Bonus!!
A Team Bonus grants extra Stats to a team which will grant them an extra boost in power. Furthermore, most of the units in the team are Strikers of one another as well as granting you the ability of the mystical Purple S.H.I.E.L.D button. The Purple Button will launch a Special Team Combination attack that not only looks incredible but does incredible damage as well.
It will help in the future, if you scan through the list of teams and start aiming or focusing for at least one of the teams for your personal usage. This can also help you determine who to focus and who to get.
